Israel strikes Gaza targets after rocket attack
Several Hamas outposts hit across Gaza Strip after four rockets fired into Israel earlier Thursday
The Israeli Air Force struck several terrorist targets in the Gaza Strip Thursday night, in response to rocket fire into southern Israel earlier in the evening.
According to Palestinian sources, several Hamas outposts in the north and center of the Gaza Strip were hit. There were no immediate reports of casualties.
"Following #Gaza rocket attacks today, #IDF targeted 5 terror locations in the strip. Hits were confirmed," Lieutenant Colonel Peter Lerner, a spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces, wrote on Twitter.
The Israeli attack came in response to four rockets fired at the city of Sderot in southern Israel during the evening. The rockets fell in open areas and no injuries or damage were reported.
The past weeks marked a relative quiet along Israel’s border with Gaza after a brief flareup last month.
At least 70 rockets were fired from the Strip at Israeli southern cities early March, in the heaviest barrage of rockets since Israel's 2012 military Operation Pillar of Defense
